Abstract
The Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a national health policy aimed at qualified and humanized care for newborns and their families. The objective of the investigation was to evaluate how pedagogical workshops contributed to teaching-learning about KMC. In this sense it was considered its relevance and the possible improvements for more active learning of this assistance model for students in training. The workshops took place virtually, with fifteen health students from the extension project "I was born premature... and now?". The qualitative and exploratory research analyzed the discursive practices and meanings produced from two categories: “meanings attributed to the Kangaroo Method and the learning that occurred during the workshops” and “relevance in the use of pedagogical workshops in the extension project”. It was concluded that the meanings were aligned and consolidated with those recommended by the KMC. The students learned significant concepts that can support their practices. The research also brought and could bring contributions to professionals in the field.
