Abstract
This article focuses on the search for theoretical-methodological references to support the production of narratives by children in different languages and media. It is based on a study conducted in the New York City (USA) municipal public school system about the relationship between children and media. The study’s broader horizon includes the challenges of integrating media-education to early elementary school grades, emphasizing the potential of both new literacies and oral narratives in local cultural contexts. The theoretical references that help to develop the theme include reflections on new literacies based mainly on M. Knobel and C. Lanshear.
