Abstract
EThis article discusses the importance of heuristic play in the learning of children on the autism spectrum, highlighting the benefits for cognitive, social, and motor development. It emphasizes the appreciation of individuality and respect for particularities. It aims to identify the benefits for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a Reggio Emilia school, through heuristic play. The research, of a basic and qualitative nature, was conducted through a literature review based on various bibliographic sources, seeking to contribute to the generation of new knowledge in the educational field. As a result, it was observed that heuristic play is an innovative tool in child development process. Given that ASD children may have an unconventional playing style, it is up to the school to promote the participation of these individuals in playful activities, aiming for their integral development and valuing their unique characteristics.
