Abstract
The article is born from reflections in a cycle of studies on childhoods in the subject Childhood and Early Childhood Education, at the Federal University of São Carlos. Considering childhood and its experiences as a children's right, we are interested in reflecting on the times and spaces of playing at school, in classes of the 1st year of elementary school. Children's participation in Non-Presential School Activities also sharpened our expectations regarding the investigation, since it intensified the need for school transition strategies. Our theoretical contribution is based on childhood studies, based on authors who think of children as historical subjects and play as a principle of pedagogical practice. As a methodological procedure, we carried out an exploratory survey with teachers of the 1st year of Elementary School, in two schools in the municipality of Sorocaba, on how they provide opportunities for children to play.
