Abstract
This study analyzes the public policy on secondary education in Bahia, focusing on the relationship between performance and investment in two modalities: vocational and academic. The data were obtained through the transparency system of state schools, performance in Saeb tests, and enrollment numbers from the Inep website. The analysis revealed that the state of Bahia invested significantly more in vocational schools than in academic ones. However, between 2011 and 2022, there was a reduction in this disparity, which began with transfers 3.2 times higher and remained 1.4 times higher at the end of the period. Regarding performance on Saeb, no significant differences were identified. Thus, the study did not find a correlation between per-student investment and performance on Saeb assessments.
