Abstract

The opening of Distance Education (EAD) courses aimed at expanding students' access to higher education. The increase in the number of vacancies and the presence of a new way of access can lead to an increase in the inclusion of social classes, but has this greater inclusion been evidenced in Brazil? The objective of this study was to analyze the democratization of access to higher education courses in health offered in the distance learning modality. A statistical-descriptive analysis was carried out for the period from 2010 to 2020, using secondary data from the Higher Education Census. Based on the analysis of the results, a higher percentage of women in these courses can be seen, an average age of 33 years and a continuous growth in the number of students declared to be brown. Such results contribute to academic and managerial discussions about social inclusion in higher education courses offered in the distance learning modality and to the development of public policies aimed at democratizing higher education in Brazil.
