Special collection “AI in educational research: beyond the hype”

We’re delighted to let you know that the special collection “AI in educational research: beyond the hype” is now published on Educação On-line.

Organized by professors Giselle Martins (PUC-Rio) and Magda Pischetola (University of Copenhagen), the special issue features Brazilian and international researchers (from Denmark, England, Scotland, Italy, the U.S., and South Africa), as well as an interview with Ben Williamson (co-director of the Center for Digital Education Research at the University of Edinburgh).

As the organizers explain: “This special collection gathers texts that examine issues pertaining to the uses of AI in educational research in ways that escape the characteristic hype of hegemonic discourses. [...] The texts illustrate how AI is affecting different aspects of educational research, including research training, research design and development and dissemination of research findings. Research approaches to AI in education as well as cognitive, affective and ethical implications of AI use in research are also addressed, with a focus on concerns that go beyond mainstream takes on the consequences of AI for academic integrity and plagiarism.”
